Patient Liability Estimation (PLE)

Collecting cash is a challenge for every health system. HEI’s PLE solution provides real-time estimation of a patient’s responsibility at any time throughout the patients visit.

The PLE application displays key elements from the patients visit such as patient demographics and health plan information. In addition, the PLE application pulls in orders, charges and scheduled appointments from the patient’s selected visit. For each line item (orders, charges or appointments) all gross prices are integrated with your system’s charge master. All adjustments and liability amounts are calculated utilizing HEI’s Contract Management solution.

Add on Additional Services from PLE

In addition to orders, charges and scheduled appointments that are associated to the patient’s current visit, utilizing PLE the user has the ability to add on additional services to be included in the estimate. These add on items are only associated to the estimate not the patient’s clinical record.  When searching for bill items the user can search by a description or a code such as CPT, HCPCS, CDM, etc.

Viewing current and historical estimates

The PLE application tracks every time an estimate has been calculated. These estimates can be viewed and printed by launching the Estimate History view module.

Generating Invoices

Through the PLE application the user can generate a Patient Invoice that can be given to the patient prior to leaving the hospital. Patient Invoices can also be viewed in Estimate History view module.

View Payments

The PLE application displays all patient payments/refunds associated to the visit. These payments/refunds can be viewed by launching the View Payments History module. Individual payment/refund receipts can be viewed or printed.
